We are looking to hire a talented and experienced Information and Cyber Security Project Assurance Consultant to join our growing team.
Role Overview:
You will play a critical role in ensuring that information and cyber security is embedded across our client’s project initiatives. This role involves evaluating project plans, providing expert advice on information and cyber security controls, conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with policy, legal and contractual obligations. Your contributions will be instrumental in safeguarding systems and data throughout the project delivery process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide information and cyber security assurance across a range of projects to ensure compliance with security policies and any contractual or legal requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for mitigating identified risks within project scopes.
- Liaise with project managers, stakeholders, and technical teams to embed information and cyber security controls early in the project lifecycle.
- Review and assess design documentation, ensuring they meet information and cyber security requirements and align with industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain project information and cyber security documentation, including risk registers, security assurance plans, and audit reports.
- Monitor project progress, providing timely updates and insights to ensure that information and cyber security risks are identified and addressed.
- Deliver information and cyber security awareness and training sessions to project teams to promote a security-first mindset.
- Stay updated with the latest information and cyber security threats, vulnerabilities, and regulatory changes to advise on emerging risks.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience (5+ years) in information and cyber security assurance or a related role, with involvement in project security.
- Strong understanding of information and cyber security governance frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST, COBIT).
- Experience conducting risk assessments, security audits and compliance reviews.
- Familiarity with secure software development practices, project methodologies and system architecture reviews.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to provide clear and actionable recommendations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decision-making.
- Certification in CISSP, CISM or a similar alternative.
Contractor/Interim Specific Requirements:
- Availability to start within 4 weeks and work on-site (Birmingham, UK) or remotely as required.
- Proven experience working as a contractor in the cybersecurity field, with a high level of autonomy and the ability to integrate quickly into teams.
- Ability to work on specific projects or for an agreed duration with clear deliverables.
Compensation:
- Permanent Role: Competitive salary based on experience.
- Contractor Role: Daily rate depending on experience.
